Vivian was born August 28, 1929, in Aberdeen, SD to Harry and Inga (Olson) Gant. She attended 1st through 10th grade at the Brentford Consolidated Schools. She attended 11th and 12th grade at Augustana Academy in Canton, SD, graduating in May 1947.

Vivian started working March 15, 1948, for the Internal Revenue Service in Aberdeen. Except for intermittent breaks, she continued working there until the summer of 1953. Vivian moved to Denver where she met Harold Myrick, who was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base. They were married March 2, 1956, at Brewton, AL.

While Harold was shipped overseas, Vivian returned to live with her parents in Brentford. When Harold returned, they moved to Limestone Air Force Base, ME, before moving to Brentford, Redfield, and finally moving to Sturgis in the fall of 1959. Vivian worked at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center from February 1962 until her retirement in June 1985. Vivian Moved to Rapid City in 2002.

Vivian E. Myrick, 86, Sturgis, died Monday, April 11, 2016, at Sturgis Regional Hospital.

Vivian is survived by three daughters; Sandra Myrick, Rapid City, Joy Myrick, Overland Park, KS and Christy Barry, Spearfish, one son, James Myrick, Pittsburg, KS, 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one child, and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel. Burial will be 4:00 pm Central Time at the Bethany Lutheran Church Cemetery in Mellette, SD.
