Warren Lee Johnson, 62, of Rapid City, SD, passed away peacefully at Hospice House of Rapid City on Monday, December 5, 2016.
Warren was born July 21, 1954, in Webster, SD. Warren was raised on his family's farm in Pierpont, SD. After graduating from Langford High School in 1973, he attended Lake Area Vocational Technical School in Watertown, SD. From 1975 - 1982, Warren worked for Kyburz Construction and Franzen Construction before going out on his own from 1982-1988 in Aberdeen.
Warren married Pam in 1977 and had a beautiful daughter, Erin, in 1979. Warren and his family lived in Aberdeen until they moved to Rapid City in 1989, where he lived and worked for the next 26 years.
In October of 1989, Warren started working full time for the wonderful company Riddles Group. He enjoyed putting his carpentry skills to use with Riddles Group until recently in 2016.
Warren and Colleen met in late 2007 and married in 2011. Warren was gifted in carpentry and spent his life enjoying building things and working on projects. He was gifted and talented and his work was amazing. Aside from work, Warren enjoyed the water. Any free moment was spent at the lake with family and friends. Warren's favorite pastime was boating and watching off shore Power Boat races.
This world won't be the same without him. He had an awesome sense of humor and calming effect on those around him. He will be remembered for his love of the Word and his strength in Christ. Warren enjoyed his daily walk with God over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen; his daughter, Erin Johnson-Slowey (Pete Slowey), Los Angeles, CA; one grandson, William Warren Slowey; stepchildren, Keenan Thomas (Cory Antonakos), Berkeley, CA, and Elizabeth Ericson (Dave Ericson), Monticello, MN; brother, Mark Johnson and wife, Audrey, Pierpont, SD; sisters, Jayne Johnson Tillema and husband, Mark, Simi Valley, CA, and Kristen Johnson Heuther and husband, Kevin, Simi Valley, CA; sister-in-law, Roxanne Johnson; in addition to many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, and aunts. He was a great man and will be missed very much by all his family and friends.
Warren was preceded in death by his loving brother, Scott Johnson; and his parents, Richard Daniels Johnson and Violet Louise Johnson.
A celebration of Warren's life will be held at Fountain Springs Church, 2100 N. Plaza Drive, Rapid City, on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at 11:00 a.m.
