Obituary

Warren Prascher, 91, Sturgis, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, March 23, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Timothy Castor officiating. Inurnment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Sturgis Veteran's Honor Guard.

Warren was born January 11, 1924, at Kearney, NE, to George Arthur and Elizabeth Pearl Prascher. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from high school in 1941. Warren entered the US Army in 1945. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for the US Maritime Commission in California. He returned to Nebraska where he worked for a John Deere dealer before joining Farmhand, Inc. in December of 1950. He lived in Utah for three years, Portland, OR, for two years, and moved to South Dakota where he has lived since. Warren Retired in January 1991.

Warren did volunteer service with the Sturgis Veteran's Honor Guard for seventeen years, participating in 2,588 burials. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sturgis Golden K Kiwanis, and the Elks.

He was married in 1945 to Arlone Habe. To this union were born, John, Kathryn, Craig, and Daniel. He married Ginnie Caldwell Strong in 1985.

Survivors include his wife, Ginnie; son, John and his wife, Stephannie, Memphis, TN; daughter, Kathryn and her husband, Guy Tillett, Black Hawk, SD; son, Craig and his wife, Carla, Plano, TX; son, Dan and his wife, Mary, Grapevine, TX; stepson Robert Strong and his wife Sandy, Sioux Falls, SD, and stepson Lonnie Strong and his wife Linda, Rapid City; five grandsons; one granddaughter; nine step-grandsons; four step-granddaughters and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leonard.

A memorial has been established to the Sturgis Vet's Club Warren Prascher Memorial Fund.
