Wayne was born on October 17, 1941, the youngest child of Vernon and Evelyn (Armour) Donnenwirth. He was raised in Faith and graduated from Faith High School in 1959. He graduated from South Dakota State University in 1963 with a bachelor's degree in economics and married Marlene Nelson on July 5, 1970.
Wayne was employed in several departments of the state of South Dakota in Pierre until 1982, when Marlene and he relocated to Brandon Valley where he was employed by an insurance company, doing auditing and safety inspections. After Marlene passed away, he retired in Florida.
Wayne F. Donnenwirth, a Faith native, died on October 14, 2018, at a nursing home in Florida.
He is survived by his sister, Kathryn Daane, Sturgis; nieces, Linda (Keith) Bohm, Sturgis, and Janelle (Jeff) Rogers, Nashville, TN; nephews, James (Tami) Daane, Sioux City, IA, and Jeff (Lori) Daane, Rapid City.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marlene; his brother, Richard; and a niece, Roxann Deal.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Kris Garlick officiating.
