Wesley Leroy
Bisbee
Aug 29, 1948 — Mar 22, 2022
Belle Fourche
Wesley Leroy Bisbee (Wes), age 73, of Belle Fourche SD, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.
Wes was born in Freemont County Wyoming in 1948, to the late Jay Wesley and Claudean Faye (Maxey) Bisbee. He was the eldest of three children and is survived by both his sister, Sharon and his brother, Charles.
After graduating from high school in Santa Ana, California, Wes followed in his father's military footsteps (although choosing a different branch) and served his country in the United States Army with the 8th Cavalry 1st Cavalry Division. This service came with great sacrifice as he fought for his beloved country in the Vietnam War.
Wes received numerous awards and honors while serving the United States of America, to include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, 3 Purple Hearts, Combat Infantryman's Badge, and Marksman (Auto Rifle) Expert (Rifle). His time in the service wasn't a topic he spoke much of, but if you met Wes, you knew that he was a true American Patriot. His family is proud to have been led by a man with such honor and dignity.
After his military service, Wes spent most of his remaining working life with the Bureau of Land Management. He retired after nearly 25 years of service. He would then go on to do maintenance work for several local businesses before he was finally convinced it was time to relax and enjoy retirement. He then spent his time woodworking and building some amazing keepsakes for his family.
Wes is survived by the love of his life, Lola, who he married in 1984. He is also survived by his son, Rick; and daughters, LaDonna and Becky; grandchildren; Memphis, Allan, William, Taelor Mae, Taylor James, Damian, Lorenzio, and Eleena. They all will miss him every single day but know that he will forever be with them in every breath that they take.
We will honor Wes with services at the Black Hills National Cemetery on Friday, April 15, 2022, at 2:00 pm. With military honors provided by the Sturgis Volunteer Honor Guard and the SD National Guard Honor Guard. With a gathering to follow at the Sturgis VFW (868 Main St, Sturgis, SD).
All who would like to join us in honoring this loved Veteran are welcome.
