William (Bill) Howard Anderson passed away peacefully on Friday, October 15, 2021, in Newcastle, Wyoming.

Bill was born on March 3, 1938, to Richard B. Anderson and Grace P. (Bacon) Anderson in Nespelem, Washington.

Bill grew up in Veradale, Washington and attended Central Valley School. He enlisted in the Navy on June 13, 1956, and settled in Corpus Christi, TX, after being discharged. Bill married and had two children, Sherry and Billy Ray.

Bill later made his way to the Black Hills in the '70s where he met Violet Wiest in Sturgis, SD. They were married on April 26, 1977. He took on the task of helping to raise Violet's youngest child.

Bill worked for Bradley Sodding, Summit Construction and Fisher Sand and Gravel. When Fisher closed the gravel pit in Rapid City, Bill bought the lease and operated it as Anderson Sand and Gravel.

He loved watching Cops, Fox News, Hee Haw, rodeo and anything on Starz Western. He was a fan of Buck Owens and the Buckaroos and listened to them on his 8-track player while tinkering in his shop.

Bill is survived by his son, Billy Ray; step-son, Gary (Shannon) Wiest of Carmichael, California; step-daughters, Brenda (Fenton) Johnson of Newcastle, Wyoming, and Patricia (Michael) Reid of Highlands Ranch, CO; sisters, Laura Lou Hensley (Gary) of Mesa, Arizona, Linda Lee Watkins of Spokane, Washington, and Lola Kay Levan of Spokane, Washington; eight grandchildren: Jaimie, Cody Jo, Casey, Lauren, Tyler, Nicholas, Drew, and Morgan; nineteen great-grandchildren: Elyse, Tré, Abby, Gavin, Kaidan, Braeden, Sam, Bailey, Will, Ari, Liam, Carter, Sophie, Bennett, Keira, Coraline, Coen, Bodhi, and Jack; and four great-great grandchildren: Grayson, Giovanni, Hudson, and Cruz; and numerous nieces and nephews who were very special to him, and he to them.

Bill was preceded in death by parents, his loving wife, Violet Anderson; daughter, Sherry Boyd; stepdaughter, Colette Hopson; brothers, Dale, Don, Derel, Bob, Mike, and Gary Anderson.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held at Kinkade Funeral Chapel on Friday, June 10, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at Bear Butte Cemetery, Sturgis, SD.
