William (Willie) Krogman, 87, formerly of Rozet, Wyoming, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the Norton Avantara Rehabilitation and Care Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Willie was born on July 8, 1936, on a farm northwest of Flandreau to William and Alma Krogman. He attended Durland and Tidd Country Schools and graduated from Flandreau High School in 1955. He was a member of the Flandreau Boy Scout Troop. Willie enlisted in the US Marine Corps on August 9,1955, serving aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Shangri-La and was honorably discharged on August 9, 1959.

After his discharge Willie went to Odessa, Texas, and worked in the oil fields. He was united in marriage to Sharon Lee Thomas on January 28, 1961, in Odessa. To this union two sons were born, William Kenneth III and Stanley Edward. Willie and Sharon moved to Abilene, TX, where Willie worked for Brown & Root Construction building missile sites. They then moved to Arlington, TX, in 1963, where Willie went to work for General Motors for several years. They later moved to Fort Worth, TX, where they divorced in 1969.

Willie moved to Denver, Colorado in 1970, and became a private contractor. After many years in Colorado he moved to Gillette, Wyoming, where he worked for Powder River Coal Company. After his retirement he moved to Rozet, WY. Willie was an avid bowler, having bowled three perfect 300 games. He enjoyed football as a Dallas Cowboy fan, and he also enjoyed playing golf.

He is survived by his son, Stanley of Ogden, Utah; five grandchildren, Tawnie (Mitchell) Sorrells of Congaree, South Carolina, Stanley (Kimberly) Krogman Jr. of Lake Havasu, Arizona, William Kenneth Krogman IV, Elizabeth Diana and Lucas McKay of St. George, UT; and one great grandson, James Robert; two sisters, Diana Heyer of Dell Rapids, SD, and Elaine (Ron) Hammer of Flandreau, SD; sister-in-law, Mary Krogman of Custer, SD; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, son, William Krogman III; two sisters, Fern Pedersen and Shirley Chamley; brother, Roger Krogman; nephew, Doug Pedersen; niece, Marsha Ustanko; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Interment took place at the South Dakota Veterans Memorial Cemetery near Sioux Falls.
