In Loving Memory

A Life Remembered and Celebrated: William “Bill” Andrew Redman

William “Bill” Andrew Redman, born on April 20, 1947, in Elgin, North Dakota, and passed away peacefully at home on 4/16/2026.

Bill grew up on the Redman family farm in Heil, North Dakota, sparking a lifelong love of farming, entrepreneurship, and the land. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1965. Bill continued his education at North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota, and later transferred to the National College of Business in Rapid City, South Dakota. While in college, he enjoyed his 1968 Dodge Charger and often reminisced of that it was the best car he ever had. He also served honorably in the Army Reserve from 1968 to 1969 then served in the National Guard until 1978.

In February 1968, he married Sandra “Sandy” Cole in Rapid City, SD and then soon thereafter, the young couple moved to Billings, Montana where Bill took a job selling advertising for the Billings Gazette. After the birth of their first child, William Jr “B.J.,” the family moved to Lemmon, SD in 1971 where Bill opened Redman Implement. This thriving dealership eventually became one of the largest award-winning Case tractor dealerships in the region. During this time, he and Sandy had their second child, Lynda. Bill tried his hand in politics briefly and ran for state representative in 1978. While running the business in Lemmon, he also farmed property near Belle Fourche, Meadow and McLaughlin, SD.

He later closed Redman Implement in 1980 due to the tough agricultural economic conditions at the time, moved the family to Rapid City, and started a new career as a sales representative for Federated Insurance. Even though he loved sales and being an entrepreneur, farming was his true passion, and he continued to farm property near Meadow and eventually, in Rapid Valley. He eventually returned to equipment sales working for Jenner Equipment, then Butler Machinery in Rapid City and later Hersrud’s Farm Equipment in Sturgis.

In the fall of 1986, he and Sandy divorced.

On December 15, 1988, Bill married Sandra “Sandy” Tripp and welcomed eight children Teena, Suzanne, Michael “Scott,” Julia, Linda, William “Billy,” Katrina, and Robert “Bobby” into his family, and together he and Sandy had two additional children David and Kassandra “Kassie,” forming a blended family of twelve children who were the heart of his life.

Bill and Sandy made their home in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, where Bill opened and operated his own business, Redman Enterprises, specializing in industrial equipment. As an entrepreneur, he always took pride in building something of his own. He was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and reliability.

Bill and Sandy later moved to Gordon, Nebraska, where Bill began his extensive career with Modern Farm Equipment. He worked there for 19 years, first as a service manager for John Deere, and later as a farm equipment salesman for New Holland, earning respect for his deep knowledge, honesty, and dedication to his customers.

In June 2017, Bill lost his beloved wife, Sandy of 29 years, to cancer. Following her passing, in the fall of 2017, he relocated to Sturgis, South Dakota, where he briefly tried his hand at automobile sales at Hersrud’s.

On November 18, 2017, Bill met Deborah Paroli, and the two formed a loving partnership built on companionship, shared adventures, and mutual support. Together, Bill and Deborah opened and operated New to You Fashions and Treasures in downtown Sturgis, proudly running the business for five years before retiring.

Bill lived life fully and with passion. He enjoyed a night out dancing, playing Canasta, watching movies, spending time with his grandchildren, and tending to lawn care and gardening. Anything related to agriculture captured his interest, and he never grew tired of talking about farming, equipment, or the future of the land. He had a joyful sense of humor and witty story or anecdote at the ready.

Tractors were one of Bill’s greatest joys. From growing up with Case tractors on the family farm, to selling his own Case tractors, to servicing John Deere tractors, and later switching to New Holland during his years at Modern Farm Equipment, tractors remained a lifelong passion. His collection extended beyond machinery to a cherished assortment of toy tractors, blankets, ties, and memorabilia, lovingly gifted year after year by his children and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed discussing tractors and giving his grandchildren rides, creating memories that will last forever.

Bill is preceded in death by, his wife, Sandra (Tripp) Redman, and his parents, Esther and David Redman.

He is survived by his life partner, Deborah Paroli; his twelve children; thirty-one grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; his sister, Susan Redman of Bismarck, North Dakota; and his brother, David “Dave” Redman, who continues to reside on the Redman family farm in Heil, North Dakota; along with many extended family members and friends.

The date for William “Bill” Redman’s memorial service will be shared once it is determined.

William “Bill” Redman will be fondly remembered for his commitment to his loved ones. His tireless work ethic was evident in every endeavor he pursued, from building businesses to providing for his loved ones. Bill’s enthusiasm for both farming and entrepreneurship shaped his career and personal interests, reflecting a lifetime devoted to hard work, growth, and the pursuit of his passions. His legacy endures in the lives he touched and the example he set for his family and all who knew him.
