Willis A. Steinlicht, Jr., also known as Willie, was born March 15, 1938, to Willis A. Steinlicht, Sr. and Erma (Leino) Steinlicht in Deadwood, SD. Willie had one sister, Patricia. Willie attended Deadwood High School. He then joined the United States Air Force in 1961 for aircraft and missile maintenance, and he received an honorable discharge in 1963.
He proceeded onto college in Spearfish, SD. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Science and an Associate of Arts. From there, he went on to be a successful car salesman for 30 years and worked part time at Hills Material. Willie then met the love of his life, Dorene Hansen, on a bus when he was coming home as she was traveling to visit her brother. They continued communication for six months through letters. On May 5, 1962, the couple wed in Pipestone, MN. Willie has a son from a prior relationship named Mark. Willie and Dorene then had 2 children together, Bradley and Raye Ann.
Some of his favorite memories were hunting and fishing with his dad and uncle. He was a die-hard Denver Broncos fan and enjoyed attending football games with his family, amongst other activities. He was also an active 33rd degree Mason and Shriner. Willie was very involved in all of the activities that his grandchildren participated in. He is to be remembered for his big heart and outgoing personality.
Willis Arnold Steinlicht, Jr., 82, went home to his Lord on Sunday, May 17, 2020, peacefully at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Dorene Steinlicht, Deadwood, SD; son, Mark Spivey, Mission Viejo, CA; daughter, Raye Ann DeLong, Whitewood, SD; and son, Bradley Steinlicht, Deadwood, SD; along with 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Erma; father, Willis, Sr; and sister, Patricia.
Willie always lived his life by "Live each day at a time."
A service will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery with military and masonic honors at a later date.
