Wilma A. Cooley, 84, Sturgis, died Friday, June 15, 2007 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be 8 am to 9 pm on Tuesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis with Pastor Denzel Nonhoff officiating. Burial follows at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Wilma was born at home in Vale, SD, on April 12, 1923, to Andrew and Selina (Baas) Trohkimoinen. She attended rural school until moving to Sturgis where she graduated from Sturgis High School. She attended secretarial school in Rapid City and moved to Denver where she was employed in a munitions factory during the war years. She returned to Sturgis where she married James H. Cooley on February 1, 1948. The couple moved to Washington D.C. and later to Knoxville, IA, before returning to the Black Hills and Western South Dakota.

Wilma was affectionately known as "G Ma" and enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren by attending numerous sporting events. She loved baseball and bingo. Wilma played bingo at the Meade County Senior Center, Heritage Acres, the Vet's Club, Rapid City and Cheyenne, WY.

In lieu of flowers the family has established a memorial to the Sturgis American Legion Post 33 Baseball program.

Survivors include her four sons; David J. Cooley, Sturgis, Jay D. Cooley, Wildomar, California, Kent E. Cooley, Rapid City, SD, Jon A. Cooley, Sturgis; three daughters, Lynn (Tom) Archuleta, Littleton, CO, Dee Blair, Billings, MT, Maury (Tim) Anderson, Sturgis; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer, Scott, Shawna, Bryan, John, Katelyn; also several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson Terry, four brothers, four sisters and two infant siblings.
