Obituary

Wilma Moore, 84, died February 5, 2014 at Primrose Retirement Center in Casper Wyoming surrounded by family. She had suffered from Alzheimer's disease for several years.

Wilma was born May 12, 1929 in Elm Springs South Dakota to William and Blanche (Felton) Schell. She grew up in the Elm Springs area and graduated from high school in New Underwood in 1947. She received three months of teacher training and began teaching at the Trigg School near Elm Springs in the fall of 1947. She continued with teacher education during summers while teaching during the winters. She graduated from Black Hills State College with a degree in elementary education in 1980. She enjoyed a long teaching career in rural Meade County teaching at several different schools including the Pierce School, Lakeside School, Royal School, Hope School, Enning School and Elm Springs School. She retired from teaching in 1993.

She married Martin Moore of Elm Springs on August 11, 1951. Martin joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and they were stationed in Illinois and Texas until 1953. They returned to the Elm Springs area where they ranched until their retirement.

Wilma liked children, ranch cats, traveling and spending time with her family. She enjoyed taking care of the house on the ranch in South Dakota for many years. She appreciated being part of the Elm Springs community where she spent most of her life. She had lived at Primrose Retirement Center in Casper for the last 10 years and enjoyed the friendship of many of the residents and staff, along with the social activities that were part of her life there.

Funeral Services will be at 2pm on Monday, February 10, 2014, at the Elm Springs Community Hall, Elm Springs, S.D., with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will follow in the Elm Springs Church Cemetery. Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, S.D. is charge of all arrangements.

Survivors include three sons, Michael, Salt Lake City, Utah, John, Sutherland, Nebraska, Jeff, Casper, Wyoming; two daughters, Wendy Moore, Casper, Wyoming and Becky Moore, Douglas, Wyoming; three brothers, Bob, Miles City, Montana, Donnie, Sundance, Wyoming, and Jerry, Wasta, South Dakota; four sisters, Norma Pellegrin, New Underwood, South Dakota, Carol Rants, Camas, Washington, Kathy Carneal, LaVerne, California, Linda Foss, Buffalo, Minnesota; and seven grandchildren, Brandon, Ryan and Jared Moore, and Jesse, Trevor, Shawn and Marti Parmenter; and two great grandchildren, Izabel and Theodore Parmenter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; her parents; three brothers, Dean, Bill, and Jay; one sister, Shirley; and one grandson, Rhett.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Elm Springs Church or the Elm Springs Fire Department at 17801 Smithville Road, Wasta, SD 57791.
