Zelpha M. Reede, 97, of New Underwood, SD, passed away Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Center in New Underwood. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, November 20, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.

Zelpha was born on November 4, 1928, to Carl and Gladys (Wright) Hansen at Imogene, SD, along the Old Bixby Road. Because her father worked in construction and moved frequently, her early years were spent living with relatives in Faith. She graduated from Faith High School and later married Ralph Reede on June 3, 1949, in Rapid City.

The couple lived in Faith for a time before moving to Lantry, where they farmed and later purchased the Four Winds Club, eventually adding a gas station and convenience store. In the early 1960s, they moved to Dupree while continuing to operate the business in Lantry. Zelpha was an accomplished seamstress and often made clothing — including cheerleader uniforms for the Dupree cheer squad and special outfits for her grandkids and great-grandkids.

After retiring in 1994, they moved to a place east of Sturgis. About a year after Ralph's passing, Zelpha moved to the Hickory House in 2018, where she enjoyed many new friendships. As her health needs increased, she later moved to the Good Samaritan Center in New Underwood.

Zelpha is survived by her sons, Allen (Jean) Reede, Spearfish, and Larry (Mary) Reede, Dupree; daughter, Kathy Lemke, New Underwood; one brother, Carl Robert Hansen, Sturgis;18 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Glenn Reede; and daughters, Carla Edwards and Trudy Renae Reede.
