Obituary

Clinton Grant Voorhees, 65, passed away from cancer on June 20 in Phoenix, Arizona.

He was born in Valley City, ND. He moved to Escalon in the early 1980s to raise his family while working for Lawrence Livermore Laboratory. As a young man he enjoyed playing the tenor drum in several bagpipe bands and turned a love of golf into a life-long hobby.

After retirement, he and his wife Barbara moved to Phoenix, Az., golf course adjacent, to continue his passion.

Having honorably served in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star, his family was able to lay him to rest in South Dakota's Black Hills National Cemetery on July 7, bagpipers and all.

He leaves behind many friends and family.

Survivors include his wife Barbara and his four children, Joshua Voorhees of Billings, MT, Bret Voorhees of Austin, TX, Michael Voorhees of Fort Collins, CO and Meghan Hooks of Austin, TX; and his granddaughter, Isla Voorhees.

He was preceded in death by his father Rodney Grant Voorhees and his mother Bernice Dorothy Voorhees, who are also buried at the National Cemetery.

His family is holding a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 26 at 11 a.m. at the Escalon Presbyterian Church in Escalon.
