Obituary

Dallas Lee Heltibridle, 70, of Sturgis, SD, died January 17, 2021. He was born January 7, 1951 in Spearfish, SD to Donald and LaEtta (Fillmore) Heltibridle. The fourth of six children, Dallas grew to adulthood in Deadwood, SD. As a young man, Dallas enjoyed spending his time hiking, hunting, and playing in the Black Hills with his brother, Donny, and teasing his four sisters, JoEtta, Deidra, Suelaine, and Paula, and foster sister, Marie.
Dallas graduated from Deadwood High School in 1970 and attended Western Dakota Tech. After receiving his degree in electronics, Dallas worked as a support technician at MPI for 23 years. Dallas's next adventure was working as a civilian contractor at Ellsworth Air Force Base. He was a service technician for the missile simulator, and eventually the B1-Bomber flight simulator. Dallas was proud of the work he did while at the simulator, where he remained until his retirement.
While attending Sturgis First Wesleyan Church, Dallas met the love of his life, Pam. They were married in 1976, and spent the next 45 years making a home together in Sturgis, SD. They bought a plot of land north of Sturgis, where they raised their four children. Dallas loved working on the seventeen acres of his "hobby farm". He spent much of his time outdoors, fixing and building various things, riding his 4-wheeler, and maintaining his home. In his later years, he enjoyed entertaining his grandchildren when they came to visit.
Dallas and Pam were faithful attendees of First (LifeSpring) Wesleyan Church. The church has been a second home to their family, and Dallas spent many Sundays serving the church and its people. He had a special talent for remembering the names of new attendees, and loved helping with the youth and children's ministries throughout the years.
Dallas is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela (Anderson) Heltibridle; his four children, Amber (Jeremy) Johnson, Juliet Heltibridle, Douglas (Sam) Heltibridle, and Bobbie Jo (Jason) Anderson; and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, LaEtta; his brother and sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning one hour prior, on Friday, January 22, 2021 at LifeSpring Wesleyan Church in Sturgis with Pastor Matt Shulaw officiating. A private family graveside will be held at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Children's Ministry at LifeSpring Wesleyan Church.
