Delvin Dean Pearson, 83, made the journey to heaven at his home in Black Hawk, South Dakota, on September 24, 2022
Delvin was born to Myrtle (Brehe) and Verne Pearson on May 21, 1939, at Onida, SD. He was the first born and three siblings followed; Sola Jean Jost, DeVere Pearson, and Dervin Pearson. Delvin spent his youth in Agar, SD, and graduated in 1957. He was involved in sports and a proud Agar High Pointer.
After high school he joined the United States Navy and his ship was the USS Intrepid. He married Mary Lou Spicer in 1962 and to this union two children were born; Shawna (Pete) Nelson and Dr. Drew Pearson.
His career included being a machinist and a jack of all trades. He had multiple hobbies. His love for gardening, canning, and sharing with everyone is a tribute to his generosity. He was very patriotic and showed this through his volunteering at the Veterans Administration Hospital. He loved to create projects such as metal windmills, birdhouses, golf ball poodles, and leather work. He also enjoyed collecting coins. He was active in VFW, American Legion, and the Loyal Order of Moose. NASCAR (Jimmy Johnson) and the Green Bay Packers were his all-time favorites.
He was a bit rough around the edges, but his kind heart always showed through. He never hesitated to help someone and didn't expect anything in return. He enjoyed the many friendships the he made along the way.
Delvin leaves behind his partner of 27 years, Maggie MacDonald. He also leaves behind the mother of his children, Mary Lou Maguire; former wife, Janie Cihak; children, Shawna (Pete) Nelson and her child, Tami Jo (George) Rothlisberger and her children, Brent, Nathan, Bryce, and MaKaLa of Rapid City, SD; Drew (Monica) Pearson and children, Drew Thomas, Dylan, and Sarah of Eugene, OR; sister, Sola Jean Jost and children, Tim, Tamie, Mick, Marti, and Tyler; his brother DeVere's children, Tanya, Devree, and DJ; and aunt, Minnie Mae Claggett of Pierre, SD. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Devere (Virginia) and Dervin; brother-in-law, Denny Jost; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services will be at Kinkade Funeral Chapel, Sturgis, SD, with visitation Wednesday, October 5, 2022, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be
