Age 61
Lon Harold Permann was a devoted husband, father, and friend who lived a life full of love, adventure, and service. During his time in the Air Force, Lon traveled the world and was decorated for his achievements. After completing his service, Lon met the love of his life, Kateri, in Colorado Springs, CO. The two united in marriage and built a beautiful life together before moving to Sturgis, SD, where they raised their family.
On December 28, 2024, Lon passed away peacefully in his home in Mesa, AZ, surrounded by his wife and children.
Lon was the proud father of Melanie of Biggs, CA, Alex of Rapid City, SD, and Austin of Watertown, SD, and embraced a blended family that included Tristan and Steven of Rapid City, SD, Vivian and Canté of Rapid City, SD, Fauna of Long Island, NY, Jason Kalkman of Orange County, CA, and Jackie Forstner of Stillwater, MN. He cherished family time, often taking his children on simple, meaningful outings that created lifelong memories. Lon also loved and enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren, creating bonds that will be remembered forever.
Lon found joy in golfing, fishing, and spending time at his winter home in Mesa, AZ, where he felt at peace surrounded by the warm desert sun. Lon also created countless cherished memories at the Heart Ranch Resort community, where he connected with friends and enjoyed the sense of camaraderie and belonging that the resort offered.
Lon is survived by his beloved wife, Kateri, of Rapid City, SD, his children, and his sister, Jan Wenzel, of Worland, WY. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Pauline "Peggy" Permann, as well as his grandparents.
A celebration of Lon's life will be held in Rapid City, SD, at a later date in May.
