Lucille Grace Wilson Kaiser died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Belle Fourche, with the Rev. Tim Hoag officiating. A Vigil was offered at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche. A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Northern Hills. Arrangements are with Kinkade Funeral Chapel of Sturgis.

Lucille was born Oct. 9, 1913, at Dallas, to Joseph and Ida Mae Wilson. The family located to different areas in and around Dallas and Chamberlain, and Scottsbluff, Neb., while her Dad did mason work in and around Dallas and on the Chamberlain bridge. The Wilson family came to the western part of South Dakota in 1927 and settled in Butte County. Lucille attended high school in Vale. She married David A. Kaiser Nov. 27, 1930, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Newell. The family farmed in the Nisland, Orman-Arpan area for 37 years.

Lucille and Dave were active as 4-H Leaders, in the Orman-Arpan Community organizations and sat on the election boards for the Orman-Arpan community for a number of years. Lucille was active in Extension Club, Altar Society of St. Paul's Catholic Church, the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. Once her family was grown, Lucille worked off the farm at the sugar beet factory and at department stores and jewelry stores in Belle Fourche. In 1967, Lucille and Dave sold the family farm and moved to Nisland. Lucille was a cook for the Nisland School and after Dave's death in 1968 she was employed by the Belle Fourche School District in their hot lunch program until her retirement. After Dave's death she moved to Belle Fourche into her home built by her son-in-law Dale with the help of other family members, on a lot right next to her son and daughter-in-law, Vince and Dorothy. Lucille and Dorothy "Dot" spent many hours together in their adjoining yards planting flowers and mowing grass and she was always proud to show off their flowers and garden.

Lucille's favorite holiday was the Fourth of July when family and friends from all over would gather in the adjoining yards for the big Fourth of July picnic. No one dared tell Mom that they had any other plans for the Fourth of July but to be in Belle Fourche for the traditional Fourth of July gathering. Lucille was a beautiful seamstress and family members, neighbors and friends were the recipients of many beautiful clothes sewn and altered by her busy hands.

Surviving are her children, Theresa and Dale Burke, Sun City, Ariz., Vince and Dorothy Kaiser, Belle Fourche, Loretta and Bob Upton, Montgomery, Texas, James, Belle Fourche, Paul and Pam, Pasadena, Calif., Marietta and Ray Schnitger, Bloomington, Ill., Nancy and Ed Pedneau, Spearfish, and Carol and Larry Vavruska, Spearfish; son-in-law, Sid Johnson of Brookings and daughter-in-law, Mary Carol Kaiser, of St. Onge. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Her husband, David Kaiser, one daughter, Frances, one son, Robert, two infant grandchildren, her 17-year-old granddaughter, Lori Schnitger, her parents and 11 brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
