William was born November 20, 1941, in Deadwood, SD, to Bessie Lynn and August Conrad Adam. Raised in Lead and graduated in 1959. Bill loved his work as an underground miner for Homestake for 10 years. After a serious accident in June of 1972, he worked in the warehouse after he recovered from his injuries. Bill retired when Homestake closed. He married Therese Hoffman May 28, 1988. They first met when he was 6 and she was 5. They lived in Spearfish Canyon and later moved to Spearfish. He like reading Westerns, old cars, old movies and driving the back roads of the Black Hills.

William Howard Adam, 76, died Friday, May 18, 2018, at his residence in Spearfish.

William is survived by his wife, Therese of Spearfish; brother, Tom of Sioux Falls; nephew, Karl Adam of Pierre; nieces, Kathy Bykowski of Eden Prairie MN., Paula Burchill of Sioux Falls and Sara Axtman of Harrisburg PA. He also had two adult step-children, Kathy McNeary of Hermosa and Keith Kuykendall of Marquette MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents and older half-brother Sonny McGraw of Tyler Texas.

No services at his request. A family memorial service will be later in the summer.
